Let us start by telling you that last year’s ENDSARS protest is beginning to yield positive results. This time, it is for the police personnel.
That’s because the Federal Executive Council has approved a “peculiar allowance” for police personnel with effect from January next year.
The peculiar allowance represents 20 percent increase in salary of a police personnel.
The Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, who announced the pay increase after Wednesday’s FEC meeting, added that the review is in response to demands made by EndSARS protesters in 2020.
The Council also approved the release of 13.1 billion naira for payment of outstanding death benefits of 5,472 personnel for the uninsured period of 2013 to August 2021.

On matters of graft, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says it has uncovered additional 72.87 million dollars linked to former petroleum minister Diezani Allison-Madueke.
EFCC spokesperson, Mr Wilson Uwujaren, told journalists in Abuja on Wednesday that the former Managing Director of a deposit money bank has been arrested in connection with the money.
Uwujaren, who said the money was lodged with the bank, added that the arrest was part of ongoing investigations on the former minister.
