Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Wizkid continues to break new records with his 'Essence' single.
The hit release which features Tems has made it to the number 2 spot on US Shazam chart. In addition to that, it is the only Nigerian song on that chart.
Earlier, the news was confirmed by the Billboard Charts official Twitter handle. According to their post, ‘Essence’ debuted at No 82 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the week ending July 17th. They also confirmed that Tems made her debut appearance on the charts. Now, the song perches at #72 on the Hot 100 chart.
In July also, Essence made US Apple Music Top 50. Ever since the news broke, it's been climbing the chart.
The single is expected to be listed in UK charts when Wizkid begins touring there later this year or early in 2022. Its best days seem to be over on Apple Music Nigeria Top 100 but it still maintains the top 20 positions on that chart.
Already, the video has amassed over 15 million views on YouTube. The official video made its entrant on YouTube about three months ago.
