It’s quite different when you are an emerging rapper and you look up to figures like Eldee The Don...

Renowned Nigerian hip-hop artist, M. I Abaga, has asserted that veteran rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem, singer Burna Boy, and provocative activist VeryDarkMan, possess commonalities.

As per his remarks, the trio exhibited traits such as courage and advocacy.

He articulated this while discussing his inspiration for rapping in a recent episode of the Menism podcast.

He remarked, “I dislike it when individuals claim that no one has paved the way for them. What motivated me to rap was, primarily, my fondness for rap music and my passion for the genre.

“Many individuals have that narrative from their youth, where there’s something they are passionate about. When I was younger, I aspired to create cartoons but, due to the absence of an animation studio in Nigeria, I abandoned that ambition.

“However, it’s quite different when you are an emerging rapper and you look up to figures like Eldee The Don. Then there’s Ruggedman, who introduced a fresh flair to the rap scene. Additionally, there’s Eedris Abdulkareem, who was akin to Rema.

“When you observe Rema now, that was the vibrancy that Eedris possessed back in the day. He was the Burna Boy of that era.

“Rema embodies that energy, but upon reflection, I would assert that Eedris resembled Burna and VDM more. He would simply express something and disseminate it, leading everyone to sing along. He has a track titled ‘Mr. Lecturer’ along with numerous other thoughtful songs. ”
