“I adapted to military time and the necessity for punctuality on set..." Starr

Ayra Starr poised for acting debut in Hollywood's adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone. Acclaimed Nigerian vocalist Ayra Starr is prepared to embark on her acting journey in the Hollywood rendition of Tomi Adeyemi’s widely celebrated fantasy narrative, Children of Blood and Bone.

The Mavin Records sensation will feature alongside a remarkable ensemble that includes esteemed performers Cynthia Erivo, Viola Davis, and Idris Elba.

In a recent discussion with CBS Mornings, Ayra Starr articulated the experience as a significant transition from her musical vocation, emphasizing the discipline and organization demanded on a film set.

“This is my inaugural film. I’m accustomed to being a vocalist and a diva on set, but in this case — within a film — it’s not centered around you. Punctuality is essential,” she expressed.

The Rush singer commended the commitment and endurance of professional actors, stating that collaborating with industry veterans has proven both humbling and motivating.

Despite initial apprehensions and timidity, Ayra Starr conveyed that her profound passion for the arts propelled her to seize the opportunity, referring to it as a new phase in her creative narrative.

She remarked: “I adapted to military time and the necessity for punctuality on set, dedicating myself fully. My appreciation for actors has heightened immensely; their endurance is extraordinary.

“It’s an aspiration I have always harbored; I apologize for interrupting. I cherish music, but I have always adored the arts in a broader sense, although I had consistently felt bashful regarding acting. This marks the first instance in my life I’ve faced the camera without singing; I’m performing.

“Collaborating with legends is incredible; I have gained immense knowledge from everyone on set, not just the luminaries, but also the other actors. I learn from the 16-year-olds and 14-year-olds on set; it’s inspiring merely to observe them. ”
