'Calm Down' made history on Monday by becoming the first Afrobeats song to surpass 1 billion on-demand streams

Rema, the Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, has once again added to his already impressive collection of accolades. His global hit 'Calm Down' emerged victorious at the 2024 ASCAP London Music Awards, securing both the Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song titles.

The song's co-writers and co-producers, Michael Hunter (professionally known as London) and Andre Vibez, were also acknowledged for their contributions to this award-winning track.

With these latest triumphs, Rema's tally of American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards now stands at three, surpassing any other Nigerian or African artist's achievement to date.

In the year 2024 alone, Rema has amassed an impressive total of six prestigious awards, solidifying his position as the most decorated African artist of the year.

Among his notable accolades are the Trends Award in Brazil, an iHeartRadio Music Award, an ASCAP Pop Music Award, and two ASCAP London Music Awards.
