The Bill is now being reviewed by the House Committee on Power
Similar to provisions made in the just-passed Petroleum Industry Bill, host communities of electric power generating companies are also being considered to receive a portion of the revenue being generated.
This was part of amendments made by the House of Representatives during Wednesday's plenary following a bill presented by APC-rep, Babajimi Benson.
The bill, which passed the second reading yesterday, seeks to give five percent of the revenue from electric power generation to host communities.
According to the Bill, the fund would be managed and administered by a trustee to be appointed by the GENCOs and representative(s) of the host communities.
The Bill is now being reviewed by the House Committee on Power for further consideration as directed by the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.
