Strike follows President Muhammadu Buhari's medical trip
Resident Doctors in Nigeria have begun an indefinite nationwide strike.
The strike comes just as President Muhammadu Buhari begins another medical trip in the UK and Covid-19 cases are rising across the country following the discovery of the new and highly contagious Delta variant.
President of the National Association of Resident Doctors, Dr Okhuaihesuyi Uyilawa, told our correspondent Wemimo Adewuni that only the Federal government can determine when the strike will end.
According to him, there had been futile attempts to dialogue with the federal government. He ascribed the death of 19 members of the association to COVID-19, non-payment of salaries as well as COVID19 hazard allowance for health workers fighting the COVID19 pandemic.
