Mr. Fashola identified cause of Nigeria's housing deficit.

The Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers have rejected the monthly house rent proposal of the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola.

NIESV President, Emmanuel Wike, told journalists at a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday that the institution would meet the minister to deliberate and harmonise positions on the matter.

Their reaction follows comments by Mr. Fashola two weeks ago where he identified the annual demand for property rent as the major cause of Nigeria's housing deficit.

The minister also dismissed reports that Nigeria has a 17-million-housing deficit, saying there is no scientific evidence for the claim.
