Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, wants JAMB to do away with the low cut-off mark policy for candidates in the northern part of the country. He believes this policy has made candidates from that region ‘lazy’. He said during an interview, that giving preference to northern candidates has not helped the region’s fight against education inequality.

The National Emergency Management Agency is appealing to Nigerians to always take warnings on flooding seriously. The appeal follows the destruction of homes and businesses in the northern part of the country due to continuous heavy rainfalls. South West Zonal Public Relations Officer of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, appealed to residents to be conscious when it's raining. He told correspondent Ijeoma Esek that clearing the drainages and canals before the heavy downpour has reduced the effect of flooding in some areas.

Popular Hollywood actor, Michael K. Williams, has died. The actor was found dead in his Brooklyn penthouse in what authorities suspect to be a drug overdose. The ‘Lovecraft Country’ actor and 2021 Emmy Award nominee had been open about his struggles with drug addiction. Michael K. Williams was 54. His death comes barely five months after famous rapper, DMX, died of an overdose.
