Univerity lecturers have again condemned the federal government's decision to pay them half salaries in the month of October.
They are accusing the government of an attempt to reduce Nigerian scholars to casual workers.
In a statement, ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke, said the response of the government, especially its ‘pro-rata’ payment of October salaries of academics, portrayed them as daily paid workers.
Meanwhile, The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has urged members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities to remain calm over their claim of half salary payment by the Federal Government.
Gbajabiamila, in a statement noted that efforts to find lasting solutions to the concerns frequently raised by ASUU were ongoing.
