… Say he loves Nigerian Jollof!

Otile Brown is a Kenyan independent R&B singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor. He’s still new in the game but poised to grow bigger in the industry.

In an exclusive interview with N6, he revealed the reasons why he came to Nigeria.

“I’m here for some collaborations, and by tomorrow, we’ll be shooting some videos and stuff. I expect to have some sessions with Nigerian artists as well.”

Brown said he so excited being in Nigeria for the first time. He lives in the Lekki axis of Lagos state and has not seen much traffic bog him down. “The main thing I’ve noticed is the Jollof, man, I’m in love with the stuff!”

He spoke about starting music early in life, singing when he was about 10 years old. He used to record music without beats in the days when cassettes were the norm. “I could sing about serious stuff when I was at a very young age. I remember we used to have radio cassettes then. You slammed in the cassette, and then press the red button to record. I would record with no beats and play the song to my mom.”

Brown sings in Swahili but he has a good command of English.

N6 also drew the singer out on issues of love and relationship, to which he answered that he seeing someone.

The Kenyan singer has reveled in lots of love being showered on him by fans.

“When I started singing, everybody was showing me love, I wasn’t getting any hate but lots of love. At some point, I thought I was a special artist. But I later got to realize that when you’re growing, that when the hate will come.”

He agrees with N6 that everyone has to be humble enough to learn because, as Brown concludes, “nobody knows it all.”

Brown gained media attention after the release of his hit single "Imaginary Love" which features Khaligraph Jones. He released his debut studio album, Best of Otile Brown, in April 2017. The album was supported by the singles "Basi", "Alivyonipenda", "Shujaa Wako", "DeJavu" and "Aiyolela".
