President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the passing of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

A statement from the presidency says he passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness.

Lt. General Lagbaja died at age 56.

Born on February 28, 1968, His distinguished military career began when he enrolled in the Nigerian Defence Academy in 1987.

Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mariya, and their two children.

President Tinubu expresses his heartfelt condolences to the family and the Nigerian Armed Forces during this difficult time.

As for electoral college numbers, which determine the winner in this election, Trump is leading with 266, on the brink of a landslide victory.

Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris is trailing with 224 votes.

As far as swing states are concerned, Trump has secured four battleground states.

Trump says he feels "very confident" about winning back the White House, after casting his Election Day ballot in Florida in one of the most contentious US elections in decades.
