The Federal Government on Thursday launched the #UniteAgainstTerror campaign, urging Nigerians, the media, civil society groups and security agencies to work together against terrorism and violent extremism.

Speaking at a national press briefing in Abuja, Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said the campaign aims to strengthen public support for ongoing security operations and promote national unity against insecurity.

"The Federal Government is rallying citizens, the media and security agencies in a united front against terrorism because an attack against one Nigerian is an attack against all Nigerians," Idris said.

He assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu remains committed to securing the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in recent attacks in Oyo and Borno states.

"The safe return of every child and every teacher currently in captivity remains a top national priority," he said.

Idris said security agencies have intensified intelligence gathering, surveillance and rescue operations. He also highlighted recent gains, including the killing of more than 50 terrorists in Borno State and the disruption of kidnapping networks across several regions.

The minister said ongoing terrorism trials and recent convictions, including those linked to the 2022 Owo church attack, demonstrate the government's commitment to justice.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant and share credible information with security agencies, expressing confidence that Nigeria would defeat terrorism through unity and sustained cooperation.
