Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Defies State’s Rally Ban

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan made a grand return to her roots in Ihima, Kogi, on Tuesday, defying the state’s rally ban with a warm and celebratory homecoming.

Akpoti-Uduaghan told her people, "This isn’t a rally, it’s just me, your senator, coming home to celebrate Sallah with you. I’m not breaking any law!"

Despite a curfew and a ban on public gatherings in place, the senator made it clear: no one could stop her from returning home.

And while her defiant return sparked tension, it also led to the Kogi State government weighing in.

The government is leaving it to security agencies to decide if Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan should be arrested for defying the state's ban on processions.

In a chat, Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo made it clear that if the senator broke the law, the security agencies know what steps to take.
