Rotavirus vaccine, Routine Immunization Schedule comes to Nigeria

We are starting the news by informing you that the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency have introduced the Rotavirus vaccine to Routine Immunisation Schedule in Nigeria.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire at the flag-off said the vaccine introduced in the EPI programme is to avert over 110,000 deaths in children under the age of five in the next 10 years.

Moving on. ASUU National Executive Council will next Monday decide on a Federal Government offer for it to end its ongoing strike.
The meeting promises to be a decisive one and may determine whether the government would axe the union as being contemplated.
Meanwhile, National President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said his union is yet to officially get any offer from the government’s side.

An aviation expert Wole Sadare says that Federal Government failure to salvage the aviation sector might lead to massive job cuts.
Mr. Sadare said with the cost of jet fuel and the high cost of running operations cost bedevilling the aviation sector many airlines might withdraw services.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, says Nigeria and India are exploring new areas of cooperation to strengthen the already strong and cordial bilateral ties between both countries.
Onyeama made this known when he received India’s Minister of State of External Affairs, Shri V. Muraleedharan, at the ministry yesterday.

The Naira yesterday depreciated marginally against the dollar at the Investors and Exporters window, exchanging at N429.43kobo.
The figure represented a decrease of 0 point 09 per cent, against N429. 05kobo at the close of business on August 19.
The Naira sold for as low as N415 to the dollar within the day’s trading.

The chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, Anthony Fauci will step down as US head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Dr Fauci, who served as director of the NIAID for 38 years, said he would leave both positions in December to "pursue the next chapter" of his career.
He became the face of the nation's Covid-19 response during the pandemic.
