The National Emergency Management Agency says the fire outbreak that reportedly occurred at the Okobaba wood market around Makoko-Ebutte Metta has been successfully put out. Coordinator of NEMA Ibrahim Farinloye says about 250 shanties and 200 makeshift houses were affected in the fire accident. 40 Sawmilling machines were also destroyed in the fire.
Let’s stay in Lagos where the panel of inquiry set up to investigate the collapse of a 21 multi-storey building in Ikoyi has submitted its report to Governor Sanwo-Olu. The 6-man panel had sat for an initial one month and then sought an extension before today’s submission. The collapse which left over 40 people dead drew heated conversations around multi-storey development in Lagos and development control operations by town planners in the state.
The State Government is expected to study the report and determine how it intends to enforce the Panel’s recommendations.
