The Policeman facilitated the jailing of Hushpupi’s rival
One of Nigeria’s top police officers, Abba Kyari, is denying having any corrupt dealings with embattled socialite Ramon Abbas, popularly called Hushpuppi. US Court documents say the Deputy Commissioner of Police took bribes from Hushpuppi to arrest a fellow fraudster in an over 1 million-dollar deal.
The Policeman is said to have facilitated the jailing of Hushpupi’s rival and after sending pictures of the man in jail, requested funds by sending his account details.
But Kyari insists there is no truth to the accusation.
In a statement on his Facebook page, the policeman says he only got involved with Huspuppi when the Police helped solve a case of the alleged threat to life of Hushpuppi’s family members. Also, Kyari insists his other connection to the accused fraudster was helping him connect to a tailor.
Yesterday, Hushpupi pleaded guilty to money laundering totaling 24 million dollars. He is expected to serve as much as 20 years in jail.
