The Lagos State Government has warned waterfront residents of Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island and coastal areas of Epe and Badagry to be cautious of the high tide in the Lagos Lagoon.

A statement signed by the State Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources explained that it was difficult for storm run-off to discharge effectively into the Lagos Lagoon.

Tunji Bello said there could be water stagnation on streets and roads in the mentioned neighborhoods until the level of the lagoon subsided.

He also described the trending video of the high water level under the Third Mainland Bridge as fake news, saying the clip only captured the Oworonshoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge which is normal.
