The continued city sanitation in the Federal Capital Territory has led to the demolition of some illegal markets and a Tipper Garage in Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja.

Chairman of the FCT's Taskforce on City Sanitation, Ikharo Attah, who led the operations, says the exercise would be sustained for days to prevent Gwarimpa from becoming a slum.

Attah says attributed the daily perennial gridlock in some parts of Gwarinpa to the illegalities, adding that the illegal markets and Tipper Garage had gradually been turned into hiding places for criminals and other hoodlums who constitute both a nuisance and a security threat.

He added that the demolition exercise also aims to correct the contravention of both Abuja Environmental Protection Board and FCT Urban and Regional Planning laws.
