The younger brother of the deceased, Cyril Akunyili, accused IPOB of his brother’s death
Doctor Chike Akunyili has been murdered by gunmen in Anambra State. His driver and police aide were also killed in the attack. The medical doctor was heading to Umuoji in Idemili North Local Government Area when the attack happened. Doctor Chike Akunyili was the husband of the late former Director-General of NAFDAC, Professor Dora Akunyili.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo has described the death of Doctor Akunyili as a great loss to the Igbos. Alex Ogbonna is also asking the federal government to introduce state and community policing to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

Telecommunications services could shut down in the coming days. Governor Nasir El-Rufai has asked residents to prepare for a shutdown of telecommunication services, as a military offensive is imminent in some parts of the state bordered by Zamfara and Katsina states.
