Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Burna Boy is set to feature on the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, continuing the growing influence of Nigerian music on global football stages.

The song, titled “Dai Dai,” will also feature Colombian pop star Shakira, who previously recorded famous World Cup songs including “Waka Waka” in 2010.

FIFA confirmed the anthem will be released on 14th May ahead of the tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

This will make Burna Boy only the second Nigerian artist to appear on an official FIFA World Cup anthem after Davido featured on “Hayya Hayya (Better Together)” for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar alongside Trinidad Cardona and AISHA.

The development highlights the growing role of Afrobeats in international football entertainment.

In recent years, Nigerian artists have become regular faces at major football events.

Burna Boy performed at the 2023 UEFA Champions League final kickoff show in Turkey, becoming the first African artist to headline the event.

Tems, Rema, and Davido have also appeared at global football competitions and ceremonies linked to FIFA, UEFA, and club tournaments.

Announcing the song, Shakira shared a teaser video filmed at Brazil’s Maracanã Stadium, featuring dancers in different national team colours.
