There’s now a 70-man approved security team assigned to protect Bus Rapid Transit facilities in Lagos. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu says the team would also act in the capacity of protecting transport infrastructure across the state. To him, this move was necessitated following the incessant damage to transport infrastructure and violation of the BRT lanes which often impedes the operation of the BRT system.
It’s eight days to the anniversary of the Lekki tollgate massacre, and the police is warning you not to engage in any form of protest. The state’s police spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu fears such action may lead to a “breakdown of law and order.” He says the memory of October the 20th, 2020, is one of pain and allowing a protest might pose a threat to the safety of the citizens. Cool FM’s correspondent Ijeoma Esekhalaye reports that the plaza is presently being secured by heavily armed policemen.
Kenya's Benson Kipruto has won the men's race at the Boston Marathon, with a tactical masterclass. Fellow Kenyan Diana Kipyogei took victory in the women's race. Kipruto crossed the line in 2 hours, 9 minutes and 51 seconds. Ethiopia’s Lemi Berhanu and Jemal Yimer came second and third respectively.
