Tinubu Praises Nigerian Stars as AFRIMA 2026 Shines in Lagos

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigerian artistes for their outstanding wins at the 9th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), held in Lagos from January 7-11, 2026.

He hailed their success as a sign of Nigeria’s growing influence in African music and the creative economy.

Rema won Artiste of the Year and multiple awards, Burna Boy took Album of the Year, and Shallipopi won Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.

Others honored include Phyno, Qing Madi, Yemi Alade, Chella, and industry veterans Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye.

Tinubu also praised Lagos State for hosting a world-class event, calling it Africa’s creative and entertainment capital.

He reaffirmed his commitment to empowering youths and growing Nigeria’s creative sectors, highlighting their potential to create jobs and boost the economy.

AFRIMA 2026 brought together over 1,200 artistes and industry leaders from 48 countries, celebrating Africa’s rich musical talent with events culminating in a grand finale awarding top creatives with gold-plated trophies.
