The government is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment

If you thought Nigeria’s government was ready to let the Indigenous People of Biafra leader Nnamdi Kanu go after last week’s court pronouncement, well, better think again!

The Federal Government has filed seven counts of appeal against the October 13 Court of Appeal judgment which discharged the IPOB leader.

The government is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment and restore the charge against the respondent to be tried at the trial court.

In addition, the government is seeking a stay of execution of the judgment of the court presided over by Justice Jummai Sankey, pending the hearing and final determination of its appeal, noting that the IPOB leader posed a flight risk.
