FG boosts construction projects in Nigeria

The federal government has approved 43.6 billion Naira for the construction and reconstruction of roads in Borno, Yobe, Adamawa, Gombe and Bauchi States.Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, briefed State House correspondents at the end of the Council meeting.

The minister says the roads were selected by the benefiting state governments and critical stakeholders.

Also, FEC approved the reconstruction of the Mushin-NNPC-Apapa-Oshodi road in Lagos. The road which goes through Isolo to Ejigbo was awarded at the cost of over 11 billion naira, with a completion period of 20 months.In the same vein, the Council agreed to refund some state governments for the rehabilitation of federal roads in their states.

In addition, the Federal Executive Council approved contract for Rail infrastructure in Abuja.
The project will cover the light-rail-mass-transit facility.
FCT Minister, Mohammed Bello said the contract was awarded to secure the entire 45 kilometres of track including 12 stations.
The projects will gulp over 800million naira.                      

Meanwhile, the federal government has explained that it cannot recommence the Abuja-Kaduna train services for now.
According to the government, the action will be insensitive to the plight of families whose loved ones are still in captivity.
The Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo stated this in Abuja.
Sambo says the government is still investigating the right type of surveillance equipment to procure in order to effectively monitor the tracks along the Abuja Kaduna route.
